You like Neon Genesis Evangelion and Hideaki Anno? His early work was a little too old wave for my taste. But when Neon Genesis came out in ’95, I think he really came into his own, commercially and artistically. The whole show has a clear, crisp character design, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the show a big boost. In ’97, Hideaki released this; End of Evangelion.I think his undisputed masterpiece is the character Rei Ayanami. A girl so misunderstood, most people probably didn’t pay a lot of attention to her in the beginning. But they should, because it’s not just about the oversexualised side of an anime character but about their personality and the way they express emotions and interact to the world around them . It’s also a personal statement about Hideaki himself.
