Does Catherine’s II the Great amount of lovers stand out, compared to other rulers?

In school, one of the first things I heard about 18th century Russian Empress Catherine II the Great was that she had a very big sex drive and a lot of lovers, one of them being the last king of Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth before the final partition.

This suggests to me that other rulers should have much fewer lovers, otherwise it would not be said that Catherine had a lot of them.

On the other hand, she is one of the very few women that achieved the highest position in a country/empire, and Russian Empire was quite powerful at that time, so I can imagine that such rumors about her being “an easy, joyful woman” could come up just to discredit her.

Do we know, or can guess, a story behind it? How her sex life compares to the rulers of that period and before it?
