J. Posadas was a revolutionary who accidentally popularized “UFO communism.” In the 1960s, pop culture belief in UFOs seemed to indicate a desire for higher levels of technological and social progress. Some believed if communists embraced UFOs, it might encourage new comrades to join their ranks.

    J. Posadas and “ufo communism” have become a meme in recent years, so I thought it was interesting to learn about the historical figure himself. He was an Argentine Revolutionary with a mix of doctrinaire communist ideas and some very out-there concepts. If he were still alive today he’d be very surprised to know that he became the “1970s communist ufo guy.”
