Why Hitler decided to divide Poland between Naxi Germany and Soviet Union? Couldn’t Nazis beat Poland by themselves?

Why Hitler decided to divide Poland between Naxi Germany and Soviet Union? Couldn’t Nazis beat Poland by themselves? I am sure, that even if it would took slightly longer after the fall of Warsaw it wouldn’t be hard to take the rest. Or maybe Hitler wanted to convince Stalin, that actually Nazis are friendly towards Soviets? I mean it would be also better for Nazis to have control over eastern Poland, since attack on Russia could be slightly easier in this case.

  1. So I’m probably wrong and someone feel free to correct me, but I thought it was because Poland was formed after WWI by taking part of Germany and part of Soviet Russia. So it was basically a “Look, we want back what’s ours, you take back what’s yours and it’ll make the whole affair seem legit.”
