Grand old train stations of architectural significance were a symbol of welcoming passengers to a city and a source of civic pride.
Airports, by contrast, are more utilitarian – with the emphasis on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Yup look at the state of the trains in the us.
It’s more of a function over form deal.
Yep…once upon a time travelling was a big event, people would get all dressed up and the accomodations and food were high class. Now people are hearded around like cattle.
