  1. How fast the time will go. Your 20’s go in a blur and you go to sleep and wake up and the next day you are in your 30’s and wondering where the hell your 20’s went.

  2. It’s easier to develop good, healthy habits and learn discipline now rather than try to undo bad habits as you get older.

This includes things like saving money, sleeping on a regular schedule, and eating healthy.

  3. It doesn’t matter if 90% of the people you used to call friends is slowly going their saperate ways and not someone you can consider friend anymore – what matters is the few who you can count on, and these people may not be who you thought it would be. Also sometimes these could be people you get to know later on in life.

  4. It’s not a race. Everyone’s journey is different. Don’t get hung up all on the “shoulds” you think you need to be doing by a certain time. Realize your time is finite on this earth and you won’t be able to do everything, so plan accordingly.

There is no growth without adversity. You will likely experience hardships, pain, and setbacks. In these moments, your true friends and loved ones reveal themselves to you. Let them help you through these times and pay it forward.

Cherish life. Some day, all this will be in your rear view mirror. You will probably have some regrets but the past is gone and the future can be a source of worry. Practice mindfulness in the present for the sake of your peace of mind.

Be kind to yourself and others. If you can’t be part of the solution, at least don’t be part of the problem. The world has enough suck in it.

Save now, even if it’s a little bit. Make it a disciplined habit and take advantage of compounding and the time value of money. If you can do this, you will be better suited to handle the curveballs life *will* throw at you.

Also, don’t get hung up on temporary problems. What may seem earth shattering now won’t matter in the grand scheme of things. You may reinvent yourself several times over. If you do, you will see how much changes in your life over time, so the things that seemed so important in the moment really weren’t.

  5. Your dreams only die if you choose to wake up. They’re not something you should take lightly because you’re not just giving up on something, you’re throwing away a part of yourself that will leave a hole you’ll never be able to fill.
