Young men preferring activity that is fairly inexpensive and can be done with friends for long amounts of time over an activity that while extremely pleasurable is very short-lived and result in a lifetime of responsibility.
Seems to me like the current generation is doing a better job on risk analysis
Less hassle, less drama, less nutjobs
Casual sex sucks compared to sex with someone you know and trust. Video games are relatively much cheaper if an equal waste of time.
Sex is temporary, gaming is forever.
Videogames are pretty good, casual sex usually isn’t.

Because sex is honestly boring and can get extremely expensive after a while. Video games are so much better in almost every way.

The stereotype is that young men literally always want to have casual sex. The reality is that while it can be enjoyable it can also be awkward and emotionally complicated and (especially with someone you don’t know very well) just not very good.
So I’m not *that* surprised.
Yes, with the changing of technology and the addictive nature it has become, just like any addiction, it overwhelms the need for everything else.
I am what is called a Xennial. It’s a sub generation belonging to people born in the very late 70s to the very early 80s and what makes it special is because of our unique relationship with technology. In my younger years (childhood essentially), I had a rotary telephone. Turn dial television with no remotes, bunny ears antenna, and I even had a type writer when I was about 10-12 years old. Atari games and later Nintendo.
But in high school and very early 20s, there was the birth of modern internet-chat rooms (aol) and dial up modem and e-mails, later Introduced, MySpace , etc, pagers, dvds and later, cellphones.
Anyway, that addiction is very real. I feel like belonging to this generation allows me to really see how it easily grabbed hold of people. I don’t think it’s exclusive to casual sex, I think it’s that they prefer video games to all recreational activity

On the one hand am skeptical. Otoh, am not young man any more, and invite young men to send women requesting casual sex to me to take care of for them.
