Yes, but even 70 seems too old, I’d set the limit at the social security full retirement age (currently 67), so the oldest the candidate will be when they leave office is 71. And not just for president, for all federal elected officials.
Sure, that sounds fine.
Yes 100%. We already have an arbitrary minimum of 35.
I mean voting in the primaries should weed out unfit people, in theory
I think they should re-calibrate and you cannot run past 62. But from 62-68 you can sit on a special advisory council of some kind.
An age limit would be discriminatory and foolish. There’s plenty of people who maintain perfect cognitive health well into their 70s and 80s and older.
I see no issue with having a cognitive test being part of the yearly physical (matter of fact I think it already is) and the results being related to the voters by medical and mental health experts. But that should be part of it no matter the age of the POTUS of we’re going that route
(Not American) I think **all** presidents, mayors, etc on earth should have a cognitive test . Age limit: Maybe 80 years old.
Probably won’t be popular, but I don’t think any legislator should be managing benefits they qualify for.
Yes, that caps the legislature at 65, when they qualify for Social Security. No playing in the paints, kids.
It would also make heavily encumbered candidates look like fat pork rolls.
Age limit sure, cognitive test eh.
I don’t think so. I’ve met plenty of 70 year old people who are super sharp. It just happens that some of them aren’t.
Yeah. Anyone old and mentally unfit is out of touch with the experiences of the majority of population and not fit to lead.
Okay, was going to comment but I’m steering clear of this one. No, better yet, I’m gunning the engine and hauling ass in the other direction! LOL
No, I find it much funnier this way. The current and previous administrations have been endlessly entertaining.
I was told this was a right-wing conspiracy theory… don’t you know he has a stutter.
No. Psychology has oft been used corruptly. Just look at what they did to the civil rights movement.
