  1. Wikipedia makes millions a year. In 2021 they took in $157 million and only spent $112.5 million. That’s $44.5 million in profit. Why in the world would I ever donate to Wikipedia??? They make more money in a year then I’ll ever see.

  2. Yes – they always come up with some weird calculation (“give us only $2.65” or something like that) knowing that if you’re going to send money, you’ll do at least a meaningful amount. So I send them $20.

  3. No. I have in the past because I like Wikipedia and would fund it if it needed it as they claim. But I read since that they do not need all these donations to stay afloat ad-free, it’s just an easy way to get more money. They money goes into pointless research projects and the like, which are not part of their core business.
