Christian conservatives of Reddit: Why do so many of you own small (or large) arsenals of firearms? What exactly do you fear to have that many? And if jesus is your savior, wouldn’t he be all the protection you would need?

I grew up in one of those churches that thought y2k was the apocalypse. They legit thought the Antichrist was going to initiate the wholesale slaughter of Christians prior to the Rapture. They had this whole Warriors for Christ mentality. Open carry was encouraged in the services. Every family had a small arsenal with guns in most rooms of the house. No trigger locks or anything. Fully loaded. Just cock it and start shooting. They had guys with guns checking IDs at the door. Pretty elaborate operation of a congregation of 19-23 per Sunday. When y2k came and went, they didn’t have a big crisis or anything. To this day they fully expect it to go down any minute. Only now they have video cameras at every entrance to the church.
A great follow up would be why they keep conspiring against Jews when Jesus himself was a Jew.

Maybe they like guns. I do believe I now some “not” conservatives that have small/large arsenals, not sure why.
Also, shouldnt they be happy to die or when their loved ones die? Since then theyd be in “heaven” with their “savior”…always amuses me to think about that
