Every human achievement will eventually fall into dust and our names will be forgotten, so why do you personally do any of it?

  1. Because if we remember we can keep it alive for longer. We have another few billions to go before the planet is engulfed by the sun so plenty of time to get off this planet.

  2. I strive for achievements because it usually improves my current situation whether promotions or even sense of self worth. If any of my achievements help my children or their future children or any of my family after me that’s also great. Once I die, I really won’t care anymore that it was forgotten eventually. It just effects me and those I care about and that’s what’s important to me.

  3. Doing anything with the expectation of it lasting forever is a fool’s errand. I realize that I am a human, not a God; so I scale myself and my goals down to one of a human.

  4. Well… because I have to live somehere and eat until I eventually die… and I would much rather live in a luxurious house and eat steak than sleep in a cardboard box and hunt street pigeons for dinner.

  5. I don’t. Not anymore.

I try the best I can to do right by those I care about, to not them down too badly. Sometimes I’m depressed, overwhelmed and paralyzed, and I shut down, and me & my loved ones have to live with that. I will feel guilty about it for a bit, then life will go on– with or without me.

The rat race can go fuck itself. I can get by on very little. I don’t need all that ego serving, self aggrandizing bullshit. Give me fair pay for fair work when I need it, and miss me with the drama. I simply don’t want to suffer too much or cause too much suffering, that’s gonna hafta be enough.

  6. Given that I, and everyone I know, will be dead and gone eventually, why do I prefer to eat a well-cooked ribeye steak over a sloppy pouch of Huel? For the experience of it.
