  1. I’d go link up w/ some neighbors who have some really serious weapons (like, a 50-caliber gun mounted on a Jeep). I wouldn’t be searching out adventure downtown but I would defend my family and property here in our close-in suburb.

  2. I’d be recording. Nothing interesting happens that often where I live. I always wanted to experience something extraordinary or dramatic to tell my kids someday. I’m trying to get as much of a non-boring life as possible

  3. Riots have happened in my city. I just stay home, keep my door locked, pack a bag in case I need to leave quickly (if the riots are close), and mind my business. I might go out the next morning and help clean up.

  4. Stay home and let people who are trained and experienced do their jobs without me “trying to help” which is actually just adding one more problem in their list. I’d hope whatever pushed people to that point was addressed by our community after and help with cleaning up and repairs. The thing is, if the city is being managed properly and looking out for all its residents, riots don’t happen. So I’d probably also be voting in new leadership next election. When riots happen in my country, it’s an abject failure of ours as a whole because it means we left people behind/left people out in the cold despite having everything to make sure everyone has room. While I don’t condone violence even against property, I do believe it is the last resort and people at their last have every right to use it. Property can be repaired and replaced after all. The people can’t. So as long as the riot isn’t hurting people, I don’t find it particularly upsetting enough to feel the need to March in and further complicate the situation. Just help after they got it all out.
