If people couldn’t handle being quarantined with their families, how are humans going to live on Mars, where is till be like that almost 24/7?

Submariners do it all the time, and have been for decades. It’s not some foreign, unexplored concept. Turns out when you’re able to select people and train them, they can accomplish a lot in circumstances that would otherwise be very difficult.
They won’t. it’s one of the fundamental problems with extraterrestrial colonization. because even if you get around all the problems of logistics, simply put we’re more used to a larger society. and problems would begin to occur.
especially being so far from systemic protections, could enable people to act in ways outside of the norm.
It won’t be you going to Mars
I was laughing about all those thousands of people signing up for Mars One a few years ago, ready to spend the rest of their (short) lives basically living alone in a shed.
It’s why the first batches are going to be specifically chosen. Astronauts and even special forces go through rigerous training as well as psychology testing to ensure they can ensure the years or potential isolation and other hardships that come from knowing that you are truly alone.
It will be a while longer (after initial setting up) before regular people get to go to Mars. So by that time there will be a growing presence of other humans, making a society In and of itself.
Submariners do OK with prolonged isolation. Not everyone can handle it, but some people can.
Presumably, we would have a physchological profile established for people who can handle the relative isolation and close quarters. Most people would not make the cut.
Maybe that’s the real reason it will be a one way trip. Mass murder and suicide after a couple of years.
It’s not going to be average joe going to mars, and they will most likely be constantly busy with work. Like there is a huge difference you can’t see that?
There’d likely be alot of cherry picking involved

The only way the average person is going to Mars is as slave labour. And if you think Musk or the other Nobility of Mars will give a single shit about how their slaves cope, you are wrong
Step 1: do a short background check to weed out the ones who beat their wives or sexually assault their family, then a rigorous psych eval.
There is a vast difference between the people complaining about quarantine and individuals who travel to/colonize Mars.
There are experiments that specifically study and train people to handle isolation for space travel and colonization like [HI-SEAS](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HI-SEAS) and [MARS-500](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MARS-500).
Just like any part of being an astronaut, there is an immense amount of training involved.
It takes a certain type of person to handle that. The selection process would have to weed out those who couldn’t hang just like the selection process for astronauts.
