It derives from the death of the Polish pope (we use 24 system for measuring the hour of the day), and it turned into something of a meme. Generally, many people (mostly old folks) show sometimes even pathetic levels of worship towards the pope, and forcefed to the younger generations, and many did not appreciate, which led to the birth of the so-called “cenzopapy” or “cenzo”. Essentially, all you have to put in an image is the pope’s yellow face to get giggles out of us Poles. (Someone effed up a photo of the pope, he ended up looking bright yellow like egg’s yolk on it and it got spread.)
There’s also the fact he as the pope did nothing to stop pedophilia, which only fueled these memes. The conservative Catholics try to fight them, but at this point the Pope is perfectly acceptable to joke about and very common on Polish internet.
