Our primary care physician and his staff have stopped wearing masks in his office. He’s posted a sign offering telehealth appointments if you’re “uncomfortable”. We’re looking for a new PCP instead. Would you feel comfortable seeing a doc who wouldn’t wear a mask in the midst of a pandemic?

  1. My dermatologist didn’t wear a mask to my last appointment a few weeks ago and the guy was well into his 80s. You’d think a medical doctor would be the first person to put on a mask

  2. No just no they have guidelines to follow to stop the spread. The world can see a light at the end of the tunnel as vaccines reach teenagers but it is still months too early to stop using basic protection.

  3. My doctors wear masks and face shields and the outpatient medical offices require masks upon entry. I have done online medical visits and in person visits.

Am glad my state and city are more stringent than the rest of the country so I don’t have to deal with tough choices like yours whether to stay with an otherwise experienced doctor who may have a long standing history and rapport with you or leave the practice and go through the whole process of finding a new doctor who you like during a pandemic.

Compromise: do telehealth until pandemic is in the rear view mirror then shop around for a new doctor then.

  4. I would never go to any doctor that didn’t enforce masking. If someone can’t take an international health crisis seriously I shudder to think what else they don’t take seriously.

  5. I would not trust a doctor that doesn’t follow guidelines and science, if even something as simple as wearing a mask when there is a pandemic and the evidence show that wearing masks reduce the risk of transmission and deaths, how can I trust him to follow the evidence and science to give me the best care? Even after the pandemic will be over, I would not want to be his patient, because he has shown himself to not be a good doctor that I would trust my health and life to.
