  1. You had to show up in person and buy porn on VHS with the rest of the perverts.

    You think buying condoms at the age of 18 makes you uncomfortable. Imagine buying *Anal Asians*.

  2. When people said they would meet you at X location at X time, they were there to meet you. There was no way to cancel at the last minute. And no way to cancel period without speaking to someone. People followed through with their commitments way more than they do now.

  3. Sometimes you had to put a tape in the VCR, press play, then pause, and then the VCR would actually display on TV whatever was plugged into the inputs on the back of it. This was both how to qvoid buying the N64 AV adapter, and how to unscramble hotel porn channels.

  4. The internet when it first became commercially available to the wider general public in the late 90s. Dial-up internet sucked. You had to wait a while for it to connect and it was slow as hell, but the experience of seeing your first few web pages was magical. It was such an exciting new technology – most people could see its future potential only getting better.
