  1. To be fair, Republicans (that I know anyway) *do* care about the price of healthcare and daycare, but probably disagree with you on the solution (subsidies). General inflation wiping out wage gains affects the entire nation, which is why maybe you hear more about this. Asking OPEC to increase oil supply while hamstringing domestic production is an easy policy corner to criticize. Adding more money into economy (absent other checks, perhaps by upping interest rates) is certain to prolong inflationary trends, which effectively is making everyone get paid less (relative to the bread they eat).

  2. Because there’s a president with a D next to his name and they can pin something bad on him. There’s no real underlying ideology — it’s just obstruction, self-enrichment, and opposition to anything that Dems care about.
