Someone once said, “70-80 year olds are generally regarded as unemployable due to mental decline / skill mismatch. Yet, they’re exclusively running the country”. How you do feel about this ?

  1. There’s a guy who sleeps through every session, yet keeps getting elected. I don’t believe in automatically excluding them, but a basic assessment of fitness should be made.

  2. I think it’s evidence of the age discrimination that is plaguing modern society. There’s many people in that age bracket that have kept up to date and would love to continue working but no one wants to hire them because of this bullshit.

  3. Term limits should exist. I don’t care about the age because I know a lot of older people who are very knowledgeable and would have a lot to bring to the table, but there should not be a way to spend 50 years in congress.

  4. I wouldn’t say in a vacuum it’s better to have an 80-year-old in some position of power. But whenever I go to vote, it’s pretty common that it’s an old white guy who’s actually smart against someone who’s a complete idiot or just completely unqualified.

  5. Old people have the experience to see through a lot of the bullshit. They should move aside as advisors over the process, to keep the lessons they learned alive.

  6. As we know it, smart people are the minority while democracy is based on majority votes, that’s what you get when you try to run the country on the majority opinion of not so smart people
