They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. What was your good deed you’ve done that ended with a horrible outcome?

  1. Tried to help a friend out of an abusive relationship in high school. She went back to him later, and I just got tired of hearing about her self-inflicted woes. It culminated in me telling her “look. I helped you out already and you jammed your foot right back in the bear trap. If you really want out again, you’re on your own.”

She then blocked me on all social media and avoided me in person. She tried to spread a rumor that I was a bad friend, but frankly I just didn’t care either way. Her boyfriend (the abusive fucker) later tried to confront me, saying “you made her cry.” I told him “no, you did that. I tried to help her escape, and she was ungrateful.”

We ended up physically fighting over it. I threw his ass in a trash can and got suspended for it. After that, I decided that friends are overrated.

  2. I once got a half crush on a uni colleague. She is the party-girl type. Not that focused on studying and all. But she is damn smart. I tried helping her studying and with projects, hoping she’ll catch up with what she missed. Well, turn out I ended up just making her life easier so she had time for turning into a drunk junkie

  3. Girlfriend and I were driving home from lunch at my sister in the pouring rain when we drove past an old lady walking without an umbrella.

We both felt bad and decided we’d offer her a lift to wherever she was going. So, I pull over check my mirror it’s all clear and do a U-turn except it wasn’t all clear. My dumb ass did a U-turn on a blind corner… in the rain.

A car came around the corner and just managed to swerve before catching the front of my car and sending us all into the ditch on either side of the road.

What started out as a decision to help someone out ended up with my car being written off, the other car written off, and four guys having to miss their shift because they had no other transport to work.

Oh, and the lady we were gonna give a lift to? She walked another 100 meters down the road and jumped into a taxi with no idea of the chaos we had just caused all with the intention of getting her out of the rain.

  4. Went to war with people we were lead to believe was responsible for a terrorist attack (Revenge is never good) and help stop the growth of terrorism. We only made it worst and bailed.

  5. I think the phrase you are looking for is, “No good deed goes unpunished.” The phrase, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions” speaks more to inaction leading to a bad outcome, e.g., planning to give a homeless person the jacket in your closet, not doing it, and the homeless person freezes to death.
