36-year old me doesn’t listen to much music or pay attention to much pop culture.
That said, Avril was getting the job done for 16-year old me.
She made several albums full of ballads that had a poppy radio single to attract a different audience.
she simply looks like an older version of herself, she’s not the cute little rebel that she used to be and should change something about her image

I remember watching Much On Demand when they were introducing her and they were gonna premiere her first video and I thought she was a punk rocker but it was a pop ballad. I was shook.
This is the first time I’ve thought of her like like 15 years.
Love her. I was 12 when I first started listening to her and here I am 28 and still loving her music
Honestly, there’s nothing special about her other than the fact that she worked to be special and made that work. As a young person she obviously had focus and a motor. She had the talent she needed to have but her talent alone wasn’t enough. Her drive and commitment ultimately was responsible for her success and she produced some compelling content that ultimately was additive in the definition of the culture of a generation. While her genre was not my favorite…She Rocked.

I liked “Complicated” more than “Sk8er Boi” but TBH I’m halfway thinking of the Weird Al lyrics.

I dont think of her but her song ‘sk8r boi’ is one of the dumbest songs I’ve ever heard.
