  1. Critical thinking

    Empathy

    A sense of responsibility

The capacity for acknowledging faults and for change

And before anyone says “humans are as a species born with an innate sense of empathy”, it’s something some people don’t have or struggle to hone. I want *everyone* to have the kind of empathy that compels you to do good for others for the sake of good

  2. The ability to perform tasks under pressure. I’ve seen so many people crumble, from food service to engineering, under the slightest amount of pressure or when unexpected events happen. Calm adaptiveness is key to life.

  3. SEWING. It’s cheap and easy to learn too. Button fell off? Seam split on your car seat, pants, or sofa? Pants too big? Curtains too long? Dog ripped through his favorite chew toy? Kid’s stuffed animal missing an ear? I can fix any of these for less than $5 and in under an hour.

Your local library might have a maker space with a sewing machine and a local quilt or fabric shop probably has lessons. Otherwise, YouTube is a great teacher 🙂
