The bread. Its depends very much on the bread

A roll or hoagie instead of sliced bread, preferably sourdough. Mayo and black pepper are a must.
Chips
Fresh ingredients.
Garlic aioli spread
Cheese
Making it with love.
Depending on the sandwich, being toasted.
Horseradish Sauce

Mango chutney
Pumpkin spice.

Mayonnaise. Almost every sandwich I’ve ever had is missing a fatty element that cheese just doesn’t fulfill. Mayo is the answer.
My ultimate sandwich base has always included salt, pepper, bread & butter pickles, mayonnaise, mustard, a spicy sauce (sriracha, buffalo, tabasco). Bread of choice, protein of choice, cheese of choice, toasted and sliced diagonally. Bonus points for fresh lettuce, tomato and bell peps, but ultimately optional.

Crust to crust toppings/sauce. Making every bite nearly identical
you can’t mess up a sandwich.
