All Along the Watchtower by Jimi Hendrix.
The man who sold the world
The Animal’s cover of The House of the Rising Sun is the best I’ve heard from the old folk song that was already at least three decades old when they covered it in the mid 1960s. Some say that the theme of ruination fits better for a female singer, and that may be, but The Animal’s guitar and keys win this contest by a mile.
“Torn” by Natalie Imbruglia
Stevie Ray Vaughans cover of Texas Flood
Hurt by Johnny Cash
The song [Heartbeats by Jose Gonzalez](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxJhYpTIrl8) became famous after it was the soundtrack to a cellphone ad. Not many people know it was a cover.
The original version is still awesome, but not quite as good: [Heartbeats by The Knife](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPD8Ja64mRU)
Hard to handle
Pseudo Echo’s 1986 cover of Lipps Inc’s ‘Funky Town’
Live and Let Die by Guns n Roses, Paul McCartney originally
“The sound of silence” by Disturbed
Turn the page is better by Metallica
Spin me round by dope
Jeff Buckley’s cover of “Hallelujah”
I much prefer Johnny Cash’s version of Hurt.
Smooth Criminal
That alien ant farm one
always felt the no doubt version of it’s my life is the best version of that song
I know this is an unpopular opinion, and I love Journey, but I prefer the Rise Against cover of Any Way You Want It
Imagine (I can’t remember the name of the girl who sang it but it is the best cover ever)
Led Zepplin’s No Quarter but sung by [Tool](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZKIfCJZvZo)
Believe in Nothing by All that Remains
At risk of being lynched here but I do think “Blackstar” by Amanda Palmer & Anna Calvi turned out better than the original by Bowie
Pub Feed by the Wiggles
Epoch by The Living Tombstone. RogerDelmar did a killing on that song.
probably unpopular opinion: Summertime by Billy Stewart
With a Little Help From My Friends
You broke me first the cover of that man is much better than the original
Simple Man by Shinedown
She Drives Me Crazy-Fine Young Cannibals covered by Leo Moracchioli
He’s on YouTube, has a lot of great covers but that one is my favorite.
Joe Cocker’s version of “The Letter” is the best cover ever.
Mad World by Gary Jules. Better than the Tears for Fears original.
‘Whiskey In The Jar’ covered by Metallica
[Yebba](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uU9bAVYBUU) has an amazing cover of the Past and Pending by The Shins
