What specifically did Jesus sacrifice for our sins? His weekend? How can a God sacrifice themself while knowing they cannot die?

  1. I don’t usually comment on a religious post and I don’t consider myself “religious” but if you have questions about Jesus, you may want to try reading the Bible.

  2. Supposedly sending the son of a God to be born and die as a human was a huge sacrifice. In exchange everyone gets to be treated more leniently and get forgiveness, as long as they repent. Imagine genetically altering your son to be born as an animal, and in exchange humans collectively agreed to give animals rights and not eat them. Sure, they could have done that already, but it’s like making a human into an animal proved the point that animals aren’t so far separated from humans, and deserve better treatment. And to make it more complicated, God/Jesus/Spirit are supposed to be one entity in a way. So it’s like “I need to convince myself to be better to those nasty lesser beings, so I’ll have part of myself become a filthy animal too, so I can feel closer to them, and treat them better, I guess” which is super weird but hey what religion isn’t y’know?

  3. The idea is that he took on all of mankind’s sin. The sacrifice was a perfect being taking on everything posted to /r/NoahGetTheBoat.

Of course it’s already been said: God made us that way from the start, and he knew from the start about everything that would happen, so he’s directly responsible for it.
