The Simpsons
If the season 1 Simpsons could see what’s become of them they would never stop throwing up
The walking dead
Weeds
Prison break
Dexter
Walking Dead
True Blood
Heroes
Supernatural. The first 5 seasons were awesome but by the time it got to season 15 then it got pretty bad
dexter, sons of anarchy
Also …. Not a tv show but Lucy with Scarlett Johansson – where she turns into a usb stick.
Lost
Lost, I got so lost.
Tarzan
Sword Art Online (SAO) the first season was decent, but most stopped watching by the end of the second season. I, however, finished it. By the end of the fourth, total unrestrained chaos had completely taken over!
Rick and morty was good until it became a nihilist show completely, The first season and second was good
I wish I didn’t think off Arrested Developme t first
Prison Break
Lost and Heroes
Game of thrones
Big bang theory
Always sunny
Flash and Riverdale (as well as most other such CW shows), also GoT
Riverdale
Most Cw shows.
Game of thrones began that way. The walking dead basically declined into that. And the big bang theory? Low budget version of friends
Your Honor with Bryan Cranston.
Anything on C-Span
The news
Prison break started off absolutely awesome. Last couple seasons were hard work though.
Should have ended one or two seasons sooner
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Particularly in the last 48 hours.
Good Girls
Big Sky
I watched them all the way through. I think Big Sky is still getting another season as well. But they both got pretty absurd after their first season. I think they’re fun, but complete nonsense most people can’t put up with.
Terminal List. What was that bs
Happy Days is probably the most famous one of all time. It got so bad that the phrase “jumping the shark” was coined based on a scene from the show.
Norsemen
Furthermore, I think this (shows unraveling) problem could easily be solved by following the classical British TV programming format. Plan out 2-4 coherent seasons with clear storylines from beginning to end, and stop there.
There are some notable exceptions like Dr. Who, which sadly went the way of American TV.
But shows like The IT Crowd, Peep Show, Faulty Towers, Black Adder, Catastrophe, This Way Up, Hyperdrive, Spaced, Black Books, etc. were short and great and maybe even great because they were short. Had they run on and on, I probably wouldn’t have remembered them as fondly.
Sadly, I think that the American model is starting to change this.
