The JFK assassination. I think the secret service did it. I saw a picture at one time and I can’t find it now of a secret service agent holding an M16 at the low ready standing on the back of the president’s car. I’ve theorized over the years that this man may have been the one to kill Kennedy, not Lee Harvey Oswald.
I don’t know if it was intentional, that he killed the president and they claimed he jumped on the back of the car in response to the gunshots after the fact and blamed Oswald, or if it was an accident, say he panicked and squeezed the trigger. That’d look bad for the secret service, so once again they blamed Oswald.
In any event, having the fatal shots being fired literally from the president’s car itself eliminates the need for a second shooter on the grassy knoll or the magic bullet theory.
