  1. *Other people’s successes are not your failures.*

Made it easier to be less strict with myself, and more importantly, be genuinely happy for others.

  2. Even if you are the tastiest fruit on the tree, not everyone like peaches.

I was able to focus on being someone I loved because to this, which helped me overcome my lifelong desire to be liked by everyone.

  3. Two for me:

Everyone has their crazy, when looking for partners you just have to find the kind of crazy you can handle.

Worrying about things you can’t control just makes you feel the pain twice.

Funny story about the second one: me and a pal were traveling through the Sinai Peninsula around the time tourists were being kidnapped. We missed the bus from Israel to Cairo so hired a car. Halfway through the ride, the driver got super weird and aggressive. We’re in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night, and I’m thinking “shit, we’re gonna get kidnapped and ransomed.” I like my friend and start freaking out about it, and he just decides to take a nap. This guy is pretty proactive and street smart, so I was really confused. We ended up being somewhat ok (just got mugged and dropped off at a gas station). I asked him why he didn’t freak out, and he’s like “there’s nothing we could have done, so I just tried to relax and wait until I could do something.” Honestly, made pretty good sense.

  4. If you’re driving a car and go the wrong direction do you keep driving that way? Or do you turn your car and start driving the right direction?

  5. “The point of the search

    May not be the answer

    The value of a want

    Is not always a need

Still I stand, I’m not gonna crawl

    And now I know

    I’ve got to believe”

This little bit is from one of the last bits of Part 4 of the song “The Fullness of Time” by the Progressive Metal band Redemption. The song speaks about letting go of past grudges and moving on to become a better person instead of carrying them through life like a cross to bear.

  6. “Little solace comes to those who grieve when thoughts keep drifting as walls keep shifting and this great blue world of ours seems a house of leaves moments before the wind.”

    – Mark Z. Danielewski, House of Leaves

  7. The best thing money does for you is give you options in life. – Mom She was a firm believer that financial stability was more important than owning stuff and the foundation for stable families and mental well-being.

  8. A long time ago, I was walking down the sidewalk with two other women when I overheard one of them say the following:

“You are constantly lifting the bar, so you don’t see your progress in life.”

  9. In times when I’m feeling pressure of not having a usual cookie cutter lifestyle, or not being in the same place as many people my age, I think about the motto of LIFE Magazine:

“To see the world, things dangerous to come, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other, and to feel, that is the purpose of life”
