Why haven’t we protected Ukraine like we promised when they gave up their nuclear arsenal in 1994 per the agreements?

  1. Basically, current politicians are spineless cowards who are afraid Russia will go nuclear if they get involved with this conflict. Even though Russia is only likely to continue to escalate if we don’t. Especially now that they’re recieving covert support from China.

Also, some people are convinced the Bidens took money from covert Russian operatives in that whole scandal with Hunter in Ukraine, but that’s neither here nor there and Im not one to speak to it’s validity.

It is weird to me, though, that Joe has asked three of the most significant threats to freedom in the modern world–Russia, China, and Iran–to write a treaty for us to sign.

  2. Because the US has a bunch of other allies not too much further from Russia who would prefer not to see their population get turned into heat and light. So the best bet is to choke the Russian economy until the leadership crumbles from within, either from a coup, a revolution, or attrition.

  3. More importantly, how did Ukraine go from being a corrupt backwater full of oligarchs and corruption, not 6 years ago, to a shining example of freedom and democracy that must be protected?

*That’s* a more interesting question to me than why the west isn’t spending blood and treasure to protect something that provides no real resources or benefit to them.

Ukraine is not the first, but merely the most recent, western ‘ally’ to get hung out to dry when it’s inconvenient for the west to take care of them. You’d think these places would learn what happens when you ally yourself with the west, but they never seem to.
