If it keeps some nut jobs in check through fear of divine punishment then good, but that doesn’t really seem to work so…
I mean, I’d argue you should not, but personal opinions aside, the best argument I know **for** believing in God (though the science is a little spotty on which God this applies to so YMMV) is [Pascal’s Wager](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pascal%27s_wager).
Do, however, note before you dive down the rabbit hole, that there are many responses and refutations of the wager, which argue it’s total bullshit and moves the goalposts, so be sure to get both sides of the argument if you’re really curious about this.
I, personally, don’t believe in a God or any higher power. Fully on the side of empirical science. But I don’t judge those who do, and I don’t claim to know for certain there isn’t one.
So I have someone to blame for the world being such a fucked up place.
Seriously.
Almost everything has just completely gone to shit the last few years.
I don’t need evidence to theorize or even believe in the existence of God. I do it for myself, not for others. It helps me feel like a whole person, especially when I’m on LSD.
You shouldn’t
The test is blind faith. God needs to know he can trust you to trust his judgment when mere human awareness fails to find a solution. By needing concrete evidence you fail this test.
For protection
I have faith in higher powers or some kind of IT, but not religion which I feel does not represent my inner faith.
Not a believer but I’ve heard that others just use it as a last line of hope when things look grim.
In my opinion, a person must believe in something and he chooses what for himself.
Just go to the forest, identify the right mushrooms, eat 2,5 grams of them dried and you’ll get to feel the presence of what could be called god. It’s not a grey old man on a cloud, it’s something unspeakably beautiful and you’re a part of it. There, your evidence. People have been doing this for tens of thousands of years, as evident from cave paintings. And it’s surprisingly safe if you can identify the correct species. If it worked for the caveman and for me, it will work for you.
Just putting it out their but they are people who believe in Hell but not in God……I mean if their is a Hell then their must be a Heaven/God right? Unless their is an religion on that….idk but yeah….
I just believe in god, and think that if you believe in god, you go to heaven. Im not very religous besides that
Counterpoint: to me, whether he exists or not is irrelevant. I’d *never* worship such a capricious and cruel creature. Condoning slavery? Advocating killing entire communities except the young women to keep as sex slaves? Killing children for teasing someone? Dashing infants on rocks? etc etc etc
Yeah, no thanks. Hard pass.
*And to the people that will inevitably tell me i’m taking things out of context: my reading comprehension is just fine, thanks and you can fuck allllll the way off.
We don’t have evidence for evolution theory either
I can see the downvotes coming 😀
cause I don’t want to go to hell
Because I’d wrather be wrong as a christian than wrong as an atheist.
Why do you have insurance if you dont expect to get in a accident?
Do I believe in history or not? Did the Roman’s rule the know earth at the that time. Was there really a Julius Caesar, or Cleopatra. Before Jesus, Idk, I wasn’t alive then. Did ww1 happen, I never saw it or ww2 for that matter. I just read it did. Idk.
I mean thats what faith is about. If there was evidence we would call it science or atleast thats how I see it to put it really really shortly.
