TIL in 1927, 15-year-old tennis player Sidney Wood became the youngest man ever to play Wimbledon. In 1931, aged 19, he became the only person to win Wimbledon by default when his final opponent Frank Shields (Brooke’s grandfather) withdrew with an injury. Sidney Wood died in 2009 at the age of 97.

TIL of Percy Ross, best known for his column, ‘Thanks a Million’ which ran in over 800 publications. He gave away his fortune, an estimated $20 to $30 million over a period of 17 years. Newspapers called him, “America’s Rich Uncle.” He died in 2001 at age 84, relatively unknown, just as he wished.
