TIL that Henry James Heinz first got involved in packaging foodstuffs by founding a company that sold bottled horseradish, sauerkraut, vinegar, and pickles in 1869. It went bankrupt in 1875 and the company we know today was founded a year afterwards. It was named the H. J. Heinz company in 1888
