TIL the state of Delaware was named for Thomas West, 3rd Baron De La Warr (1577–1618). He introduced Pocahontas into English society. As governor-for-life of the Virginia Colony, he died at sea on his way to investigate claims of abuse in the colony and it is believed that he was poisoned.
