TIL that the cotton in your pill bottles should always be thrown out. Once they were used to stop medication from knocking about the bottle and crumbling, but are now coated to avoid this. Today, the cotton ball can only serve as a moisture trap that may compromise your medications/vitamins.

TIL Despite the poetic and historical romance which surrounds sending messages in bottles, most sink to the ocean floor within 8-10 months if they haven’t already landed ashore due to marine organisms which grow on the bottles, causing them to sink.

TIL Mott’s (the apple juice company) makes Clamato and keeps their branding off of the actual bottles entirely, while they themselves are owned by Dr. Pepper, so essentially Clamato is a Dr. Pepper product

TIL Domino’s tried to create the ultimate pizza delivery vehicle using driver feedback. The result was a single-seat car that had a built-in warming oven and could carry 45 pizzas and a dozen large bottles of soda. It was estimated to save drivers 30 seconds per delivery.

TIL a UK punk band called the FF’ers were bottled at the Reading Festival in 2008 after rumours circulated their set was a secret Foo Fighters gig. Their bassist said items thrown included “bottles, shoes, clumps of earth, phones, a full packet of cigarettes (exactly what we needed after the gig)”

TIL of a Spokane fraudster who ran a car accident insurance fraud scheme that involved many conspirators. He would fake car crashes that involved ramming the cars himself, inflicting injuries on selected fake victims, with them even carrying bottles of urine to pour over themselves for the act.
