TIL about glass sponges, once thought to be extinct for over 100 million years and only recently rediscovered in the last 25 years living on reefs of themselves at depths of 450m to 900m. It’s thought they could live up to 40k years, because of changing levels in seas most probably ONLY live 15k yrs

TIL that in 1934, an advertising expert was asked about why women did not buy Lucky Strikes. The expert replied that this was due to the packaging’s unfashionable green colour. Rather than changing the colour, Lucky Strike coordinated the media into saying that green was trendy, saving the brand.

TIL: in 1964 the U.S. ceded land to Mexico. A boundary dispute caused by the changing course of the Rio Grande near El Paso was resolved by the Chamizal Treaty which ceded land north of the river to Mexico and some Mexican land to the U.S. They agreed to rechannel the river so it won’t happen again.
