TIL that the Iranian town of Nashtifan is home to some of the world’s oldest operational windmills (thought to be built between 500-900 AD). They were built of clay, straw, and wood and have withstood winds as high as 74 mph/119 kmh, which is equivalent to a low CAT1 hurricane.

TIL when the clay model of the 2001 Mini was to be shown to the directors, the designers realized that it had no tailpipe. The chief designer then stripped a beer can of paint and pushed it into the model; the board liked the shape so much that the production car was fitted with a can-like exhaust.
