TIL Dress shops in Manhattan used headless mannequins in their windows because it was thought that a face would be distracting. In 1935, Cora Scoville invented a plaster composition and made mannequins with faces resembling fashion editors. Bonwit Teller started a new trend using these mannequins.

TIL that the first American Artist to cover a Beatles song was Del Shannon with his 1963 cover of “From Me to You”. Del Shannon’s cover also became the first Lennon–McCartney composition to make the American charts when it entered the Billboard Hot 100 on June 29th, 1963

TIL that king George I once organized a concert on the river Thames. He hired G. F. Handel and the result was ‘water music’, a collection of 3 suites. It was played by 50 performers sailing from Whitehall to Chelsea on a barge. The king liked the composition so much that he asked for 3 encores.

TIL that chocolate is poisonous for dogs due to a compound called Theobromine, which is very similar to Caffeine both in its chemical composition and the effect it has on humans. Dogs and other animals metabolise the compound slower, so they are more susceptible to Theobromine poisoning.
