TIL that in response to fans demanding the show Metalpocalipse be continued, Adult Swim set up a live stream of the a fax machine printing the petition to bring back the show… only for the faxes to be dropped straight into a trash bin.

TIL The De Lorean’s iconic design actually started with the Hyundai Pony Coupe, which wasn’t brought to market due to lack of: a proper engine, general market awareness and acceptance. Giugiaro continued to refine the design and eventually sold the new version to De Lorean.

TIL Justice Wilson was briefly incarcerated in a debtor’s prison where he continued to be a Supreme Court Justice. He was in such debt that he largely abdicated his position on the Supreme Court for the last two years of his life to flee from creditors to who he owed money.

TIL that when American Idol premiered in 2002, it had two hosts: Ryan Seacrest and Brian Dunkleman. Dunkleman resigned after the first season, while Seacrest continued on with the show and earned about $10 million a year. Dunkleman was later reported driving for Uber.

TIL that in 1965, the painter Roman Opałka had the idea of representing the passing of time by painting numbers: he painted a 1, then a 2, then a 3, etc, and continued for the rest of his life. The last number he painted before he died in 2011 was 5607249.
