TIL of the Hockey-Falco thesis which says the renaissance realist painters used devices made with mirrors and pinholes to project an image of the subject onto a canvas, the painter would then simply trace over the image to make the painting. It’s also used to forge famous paintings.

TIL there is 1 school remaining in the U.S. that employs shock therapy treatment on students. The FDA attempted to ban the use of their in-house built electro-shock devices which was overturned by the D.C. Court of Appeals in 2021.

TIL Australian magpies one of the cleverest birds on Earth once helped each other to remove tracking devices researchers took 6 months to create and put on them. Within 20 minutes, one helping magpie had found the only weak point and snipped to remove the device.
