TIL Botox may alleviate depression symptoms in some people. Researchers found that by paralyzing muscles in the face associated with negative emotions (called grief muscles) people’s moods improved. They believe it interrupts a feedback loop where negative face expressions can impact your mood.

TIL of Nominative Determinism, the hypothesis that people tend to gravitate towards areas of work that fit their names. The term was first used in New Scientist, when the magazine’s humorous “Feedback” column noted several studies carried out by researchers with remarkably fitting surnames.

TIL that in 1996 Philadelphia TV station WPVI changed it’s news theme for the first time since 1972. The viewer feedback was so negative that the station reverted back to the original 1972 theme after only 3 days. The station continues to use the 1972 theme today.
