TIL that, on June 26, 1940, a group of American businessmen with ties to Nazi Germany organized a dinner at the Waldorf Astoria New York to celebrate the Fall of France. Attendees to the dinner included Edsel Ford of Ford Motor Company, Torkild Rieber of Texaco and Sosthenes Behn of ITT Corporation.

TIL During the Cultural Revolution bagdes depicting Mao Zedong were produced in the billions by various work units. The badges were commonly made of aluminum which caused industrial issues and Mao demanded people “Give me back the airplanes.” Making unauthorized badges was outlawed in June 1969.
