TIL that Nik Kershaw originally wanted ’The Riddle’ to be an instrumental but was made to give it lyrics by the record label. He couldn’t come up with lyrics and his nonsense guide lyrics were used instead. The lyrics were thought of as a genuine riddle and became a large matter for debate in the UK

TIL spray cooking oils aren’t really zero calories. The label is the result of a rule which allows food companies to label it “zero” if the serving size is small enough. (In this case, a 1/3rd of a second spray is a serving size) – Above this limit, the product has calories like regular oils.

TIL the hit version of “Tom’s Diner” was remixed by the group DNA and circulated to clubs without the permission of the artist Suzanne Vega or her label. When Vega heard the remix, she advised the label to buy it and officially release it rather than sue the group for copyright infringement.
