1 Comment TIL of Mikhail Kalinin, the head of state of the Soviet Union from 1922 to 1946. His title was just nominal though, and he held little influence. 4 Comments TIL only 3 people have technically died in space. In 1971, the crew of the Soyuz 11 was killed at an altitude of 104 miles when their cabin depressurized.
