TIL I learned that some cars have a coating on their radiator that converts ground level ozone (a smog contributor) into harmless oxygen. The large amount of air passes through the radiator. Having this coating helps cars meet US air regulations.

TIL, that two workers in an aluminum factory in Romania broke employment regulations when they stripped themselves completely and played with an air hose. One of them pumped six bars of atmospheric pressure into his anus, causing internal hemorrhaging and died within minutes.

TIL in 1865 Elizabeth Garrett Anderson became the first woman to qualify as a medical doctor in Britain. On the day, 3 out of 7 candidates passed the exam, Garrett with the highest marks. The Society of Apothecaries immediately amended its regulations to prevent other women obtaining a licence.
