TIL that Kevin Peter Hall who played ‘Predator’ opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in the first Predator movie, could not see out of the predator mask and had to rehearse his scenes with it off and memorize where everything was.

TIL about Frances Glessner Lee, Harvard Professor, considered the “Mother of forensic science.” As fresh crime scenes were difficult to get for study, she created dioramas of meticulous detail based on actual crimes. Including body position, blood splatter, etc. The dioramas are still in use today.

TIL James Caan improvised scenes while filming The Godfather. He broke the FBI character’s camera after getting genuinely heated. From his upbringing, he instinctively pulled out money to pay for the damages and walked away.

TIL that director Michael Mann directed Heat twice, once in 1989 as a low budget TV movie and again in 1995 as a big budget box office hit, both have the same plot and scenes but Robert De Niro and Al Pacino star in the remake. Today Heat is recognized as one of the best crime films of all time.

TIL that the bar scenes in “Passengers” (2016) pays homage to the bar in the Overlook Hotel in the “The Shining” (1980). The look and layout is similar and both “barmen” wearing red are not human.
