TIL that the word “fragging” refers to a soldier’s deliberate or attempted killing of a fellow soldier, usually a superior. The term was coined by U.S. military personnel during the Vietnam War, during which there were nearly 900 documented and suspected fragging incidents from 1969 to 1972.

TIL Archimedes is recorded to have died in a math related killing. The most common story is that he was too busy solving a math problem to follow orders from Roman soldiers and was killed, or that he was found with scientific instruments that were mistaken as valuables and killed for them.
