TIL in 2021, China saw a sharp rise in plastic surgery cases meant to give the patient pointy ears, similar to a fairy tale or anime character. Some surgeons performed up to 6 of these surgeries a day, and people often had to go on waiting lists to undergo the body modification.

I have developed a chronic sinus infection (fungal) after years of sniffing worn nylons I buy from women online. It has not responded to any medication and has spread to the bone (CT scan). My ENT recommended surgery but I am afraid of the risks. What is the best option?

TIL about Vivian Thomas. Without any education past high school, Thomas rose above poverty and racism to become a cardiac surgery pioneer. He famously developed a procedure used to treat blue baby syndrome. He would serve as supervisor of the surgical laboratories at Johns Hopkins for 35 years.
