TIL the first film about the Titanic starred an actor who survived the sinking. Dorothy Gibson was playing bridge when the ship hit the iceberg and she escaped on the first lifeboat. She later starred in “Saved from the Titanic”, in which she wore the same clothes that she wore on the Titanic.

TIL that the morning after the Titanic sank, a man on a nearby vessel who was unaware of the sinking photographed an iceberg with a red streak he suspected to be paint from a ship. For years the law firm for White Star Line, the Titanic’s owner, had the original displayed in their office.

TIL that four years after the RMS Titanic sunk, its sister ship, the RMS Britannic, also sunk after striking a German mine. Then, in 1918, the RMS Carpathia – known as the the ship that rescued the Titanic’s survivors, also sunk after being torpedoed by a German submarine.
