TIL contrary to popular belief, INXS frontman Michael Hutchence didn’t die by autoerotic asphyxiation. The rumour was started by his partner Paula Yates, who while grief-stricken, was unable to accept the fact that Hutchence took his own life. The coroner also confirmed that Michael died by suicide.

TIL That In 2013, a Florida man, Jeff Bush, was sleeping in his bedroom when a large sinkhole opened up directly underneath his bed, swallowing him and his entire bedroom. His brother heard him scream, but was unable to see or reach him in time. Bush’s body was never recovered.

TIL: Shakespeare and Dickens both used the phrase “Dead as a Doornail” in their work. Nails were handmade, super-valuable and often re-used. Doornails were “dead” because they were bent over like staples, making them unable to be used again.
