TIL the first film about the Titanic starred an actor who survived the sinking. Dorothy Gibson was playing bridge when the ship hit the iceberg and she escaped on the first lifeboat. She later starred in “Saved from the Titanic”, in which she wore the same clothes that she wore on the Titanic.

TIL about medieval “Divorce by combat”. The man was placed in a waist-height 3-foot deep hole, with one hand tied behind his back while the woman was allowed to move freely, to try and make the fight as fair as possible. Both parties wore a unitard.

TIL During the ’74 World Cup Final, Johan Cruyff, refused to wear the adidas kit due to his Puma sponsorship. They compromised and he wore a jersey with only two stripes. Years later Cruyff’s own clothing brand released an orange shirt with 2 stripes and his number 14 – adidas then tried to sue him.

TIL that the three incredible robots in the classic 1970’s science fiction film Silent Running were not robots at all, but were essentially costumes worn by actors who had suffered multiple amputations and could fit in the robot shells and wore them as costumes.
