The Hippodrome of Constantinople was constructed in the fourth century AD, by the Roman Emperor Constantine I, in his new capital Constantinople. Nowadays, Istanbul Municipality is working on a project to unearth the underground remains of the Hippodrome. The hippodrome is only two minutes walking distance from the Hagia Sophia.
